Heartily agree with this! Everything else aside, walking without a phone in your pocket is a wonderful release of attention that you might not have even known you needed.
I did a week-long course earlier this year and the organisers strongly encouraged everyone to do a digital detox for the week. They had a box for everyone’s phones so people could avoid the temptation to keep checking.
I couldn’t wait to ditch my phone and I didn’t need the box. As soon as I got there, I switched off my phone, threw it into the back of my car and didn’t look at it again until I got back on my car at the end of the week.
A few people said they found it difficult at first but I think most of us enjoyed the freedom.

It’s an incredible release once you start. More transition time for some than for others, but what an incredible rest for the brain.
