Thanks for this Sarah, I'm enjoying your walking adventures and writing tips very much. I'll avoid grandillas but keep my eyes open for other good stuff.

I have to confess I did eat the same lunch for about seven years when I first started working... tuna bap with cucumber and mayo, bag of Walker's Salt and Vinegar and a can of pop, from one of the many other Italian family-run sandwich bars in Soho that have all but disappeared. (This was in the late 80s, so Soho had just begun its gentle slide into gentrification.) I walk around there quite often and there are enough clues to what it used to be like to still feel familiar.

Hi Ed! Great to hear you're enjoying these posts. And thanks for sharing your lunch confession. It kind of makes sense to stick to the same thing, or have a rotation of favourites, as it takes away the decision fatigue, doesn't it? I remember a little independent sandwich place on Fleet Street that I used to go to practically every day when I first moved to London. It's long since vanished, which is a shame.

PS I hope you put the crisps inside the sandwich. It's the best way to enjoy them!

It gets worse... The crisps went in the sandwich some days, others not. One day a banana found it's way into the sandwich, which sounds awful but was actually, secretly, really, really good...

I'm going to take your word on that, Ed! :-)
